Season five of Gossip Girl aired tonight answering some of the answers we were left wondering last year. Of course Serena is still in Los Angeles working on the movie set. California does her good because her beach blond hair fits right in with the carefree lifestyle. Serena of course adapted into the West Coast lifestyle with an impressive wardrobe that sizzled each time she stepped into a scene.
For her first look, Miss van der Woodsen is seen wearing a raspberry pink Rag & Bone Feather Skirt ($395) with Rag & Bone Aubry Tank ($80) and a Theysken’s Theory Jiguo embellished woven linen vest ($595 and sold out) from spring 2011. Costume designer and wardrobe stylist Eric Daman did Serena proud with to die for accessories, which included a Valentino One-of-a-Kind Python Satchel ($3,845), Alaia Sandal Heels ($960), M.C.L. Pave Hinge Bangle ($1,200) and Daniel Espinosa Necklace.
Her next costume change is a gorgeous tangerine and yellow Mike Gonzalez Pilar Wrap dress in silk chiffon ($170.50), a green Louis Vuitton Monogram Vernis Alma Bag (price available upon request at Louis Vuitton), tan open-toe Roger Vivier ankle boots and a floral coral necklace and a long beaded mustard necklace.
Blair is still going ahead with her wedding to Prince Louis and although there were a few road blocks with his mother, Princess Sophie about flowers, food and the wedding gown she would wear for the French Vogue shoot, she still managed to get herself into even more trouble. For starters, Gossip Girl sends out a blast about a pregnancy, alluding to Blair or Serena, both of whom are not drinking alcohol. Hmm…my money was on Blair from the start.
Vanessa managed to get the first excerpt from Dan’s book to Vanity Fair, which has some incriminating story about Blair that will “damage” her reputation. So he seeks the help of Prince Louis, who comes to the rescue by putting a stop to its publishing. While Blair thinks she has been stood up by her fiance because of his refusal to support and defend her with his mother, she runs to Lonely Boy for help in ending her engagement. Dan agrees to whisk her away but not before Louis comes in and Dan fesses up to the whole reason for his absence.
For this scene, Blair wears a gorgeous strapless Oscar de la Renta Silk Faille Gown with a green leaf motif from the Spring 2011 collection and a Nancy Gonzalez Clutch.
Hot British femme fatale Elizabeth Hurley is on Gossip Girl this season as British millionairess Diana Payne and makes an appearance at a swanky Hollywood party for the movie Serena is working on. Of course she has her sights sent on Nate, who lies and says the mansion the party is being held in belongs to him. She leads him to what he thinks is the master bedroom and they do the nasty.
Yes! First episode and she sinks her teeth into Nate being the cougar that she is. Of course it is befitting that she wears a figure hugging leopard Dolce & Gabanna dress, which she accessorizes with Roberto Coin earrings. At the end of the scene, Diane comes clean to Nate, telling him the house is in fact hers and that the room was just the guest room and the smallest of her expansive lair.
Diana plots on the phone with an unknown person about seeing Nate again. She knows she’s going to see him sooner than later because he left his phone at her house after their tryst.
The episode ends with Blair getting fitted for her real wedding dress. She finally gets what she wants but not before the tailor asks her how far along she is. Yup! Turns out it’s Blair who is pregnant, even though her maid tried covering for her by saying she was going to have a second child. We weren’t born yesterday Dorota. Serena’s fake cousin Charlie, who’s real name is Ivy ends up running into her in California, which means more drama is about to ensue.
The characters are more grown-up in the first episode and I love that. Chuck and Nate have docked in California to visit Serena and they have their fun. But Chuck thrill seeking ways get him in trouble. You’ll have to check the episode for all the juicy drama that happens this episode.
