Does this brooch look familiar? It should if your eyes were glued to the television or jumbo trons on the steps of the Capitol last week. This was the brooch that First Lady Michelle Obama wore with her Isabel Toledo dress suit.

The brooch is actually a Victorian pin that came from Carole Tanenbaum, a collector and seller of vintage costume jewelry.

Tanenbaum writes on her blog that she acquired the pin through a dealer who got it from an estate sale in Palm Beach. The pin was actually meant to be worn as a sash decoration. The pin was purchased by Ikram Goldman but was later returned because one of the stones needed to be replaced. A month later, it was on its way to Michelle Obama for her historic day.
