Valentino’s Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear show in Paris displayed a gorgeous collection with some of the most beautiful dresses and coats available on the market. Creative Directors, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccoli drew inspiration from the Italian Opera, while looking at Italian Pop art from the sixties and seventies. They were influenced by the work of female artists Giosetta Fioroni, Carol Rama, and Carla Accardi, known for breaking the boundaries and expressing themselves.
The opening series of optic florals were bold and strikingly recognizable Valentino. Much of the clothing represented the mod sixties flavor of the season: shirt-collar dresses, embroidered tulle gowns and capes of all kinds. The camel brown suede cape with leather strap was impeccable and matched with a gorgeous skirt—the perfect fall ensemble.
Multicolored harlequin print on a variety of items was also very unique and bold. A lot of the show was devoted to evening wear, shining a light on the couture-quality work the brand is focused on. During the bow, Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti stood to applaud, while blowing kisses of congratulations. The affection made clear how impressed they were of the duo’s talents.
