Milan – The economy might be slow but that is not stopping folks from buying luxury items such as a Tom Ford suit. Tom Ford, who started his own line of suits and accessories after leaving Gucci, just launched his first directly-owned store in Europe. “Our customers are maybe not buying a house or a Warhol, but they are still buying clothes,” he said. “We are way ahead of our projections.” The Tom Ford Milan store is housed in the grey building formerly home to Ermenegildo Zegna, one of the leading designers for luxury men’s clothing.
Ford who has styled celebs and world leaders plans to open more stores in upcoming months in Los Angeles and Dubai. His suits will also be worn by Daniel Craig in the upcoming James Bond flick “Quantum of Solace.”
“I think Daniel Craig is the best Bond since Sean Connery,” Ford said. “He likes very simple things. It’s hard to get him even to wear diamond cufflinks with a tuxedo.”[Reuters]
