Happy Monday! I’m currently sitting in the comfort of my Brooklyn apartment as I write this long overdue post about my favorite coffee shops in Brooklyn. My favorite coffee shops in Park Slope, Brooklyn to be more succinct. I’ve been a resident of this gorgeous neighborhood for the past five years and can’t see myself moving…EVER! I never actually thought I would move out of Wall Street but I fell in love with tree-lined streets and easy accessibility essential shops like grocery stores, gyms, specialty home decor, clothing boutiques, beauty shops, and even pet stores all within a 6 block radius. I know Brooklyn gets a bad rep for sometimes being pretentious with craft coffee and craft cocktails but we can’t help but offer a fine twist on old favorites.
As someone who works from home 90% of the time, it’s important for me to get out of the house for some fresh air. I work from a coffee shop three to four times a week so that I can see people and have interactions with others. It gets lonely sitting in my house by myself so coffee shops in the neighborhood serve as my makeshift office. During the winter, I tend to stick with coffee shops close to my apartment because it’s too cold to walk far. In the warmer weather months, I enjoy walking around the neighborhood a lot more to coffee shops over 10 blocks away from my house.
Everyman Espresso
Where: 162 5th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY
I frequent this coffee shop at least twice a week for their strong cappuccinos on mid-day afternoons when I take a break from computer work. I sit by their airy window to enjoy my coffee and an occasional pastry. It’s also where I take fellow bloggers for Instagram worthy moments. This shop is perfect for a casual meeting or just some alone time to decompress.
Gorilla Coffee
Where: 472 Bergen Street, Brooklyn, NY 11217
I was a frequent customer of the Gorilla Coffee on 5th Avenue but they have since closed down that location and are now serving perfect espresso drinks and delicious pastries at this location by the Bergen Street subway station. It’s a bit pricey but their maple latte is a hit. There are plenty of work seats and workstations for freelancers to work or have a quick meeting. I normally have lunch meetings here. I love their coffee blends so much that I sometimes splurge on their $18 Santa Barbara, Honduras coffee beans to use at home for drip coffee. A bonus perk: make sure to get their loyalty card, which ensures a free cup of coffee after several visits. Warning: there are no outlets so make sure your devices are fully charged before going there to work.
Konditori
Where: 186 5th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11217
This cafe is the first outpost for the Swedish brand. It was actually the very first coffee shop I tried when I first moved to Park Slope because my then-roommate really loved their coffee. I would walk 6 blocks in the opposite direction from the subway each morning to get a cup of coffee and a pastry. I love it even more so now on the weekends to grab an Americano and a light bite. They also have a loyalty program so make sure you ask for a card. There are several locations around Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Kos Kafe A Roasting House
Where: 251 5th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11215
A friend of mine gifted me with Kos Kafe coffee beans for my birthday a few years back and instantly fell in love. I made it a point to frequent this roasting house – yes they roast their beans in-house – once I finished my bag of beans. It’s a neighborhood gem that patrons go to catch up, new moms have lunch while waiting for their kids to get out of daycare and others just go to for $8 avocado toast or a light bite. Again this is a craft coffee house so expect craft prices. There are tons of seating areas for freelancers to work while people watching. There’s also a Housing Works across the street just in case you want to go thrifting.
Root Hill Cafe
Where: 262 4th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11215
Root Hill Cafe is one of the few coffee shops along 4th Avenue in Park Slope. I often go there to break for lunch or work on my blog. It’s not as crowded as some of the other coffee shops on this list and they have amazing food. Their cheddar biscuit sandwich is to die for in the morning. I also stop by for lunch sometimes to nosh on the hearty chicken pot pie.
Colson Patisserie
Where: 374 9th Street, Brooklyn, New York 11215
I go to Colson Patisserie, not for the coffee, which is really good, I go there for the freshly baked croissants and bread. This Belgian bakery is absolutely divine in the assortment of baked goods offered fresh each day. I bought a lemon meringue cake there once for a party and it was to die for. It’s a true patisserie in that you can find favorite French desserts like mille-feuille, merveilleux, macarons, and financiers. They don’t have ample seating but I love going there to grab a galette and coffee in the spring and summer months when walking a few extra blocks isn’t so daunting.
Cafe Regular Du Nord
Where: 158 Berkeley Place, Brooklyn, NY 11217
Cafe Regular is another neighborhood gem I often frequent on the weekends on the way to the Farmer’s Market at Grand Army Plaza. It’s such a treat. They have oat milk, which came in handy when I tried my hand at going dairy free. The atmosphere is electric and the decor eclectic. It gets super packed on the weekends so I normally just pop in and out for a latte and a croissant. If you’re lucky, you can snag a patio seat on warm weather days.
Postmark Cafe
Where: 326 6th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11215
Postmark Cafe is a family-friendly cafe in the heart of Park Slope. They serve some of the best espresso drinks in the neighborhood but also host events like stand up comedy and programs for kids. They have a reading area downstairs and a kids area so moms can hang out while their kids are occupied. They serve Brooklyn Roasting Plant coffee but offer a limited menu. This is a cute spot for an afternoon catch-up with friends or solitary reading time away from home.
Milk Bar
Where: 204 6th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11217
I stop in at Milk Bar (not related to THAT famous Milk Bar) when I do my grocery shopping at Union Market. As they say, “don’t go grocery shopping while hungry.” I usually pay this cafe a visit for an espresso shot and sandwich, even though I grabbed their cheddar biscuit for breakfast a few weeks ago after a run (bad I know). They have a variety of toasts, salads, and sandwiches. P.S. It’s cash only.
Clever Blend
Where: 97 5th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11217
Clever Blend is the site of the old Gorilla Coffee shop I used to frequent daily. This is my cafe of choice for cold brews in the summertime. It’s the perfect workspace when I need to escape the walls of my apartment. Their hot chocolate is to die for as well.
