Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge tops the charts of the Vanity Fair International Best-Dressed List 2011, which was released last week.  The newly minted royal nabbed the prime spot for the category of Best Dressed Women after her whirlwind fashion extravaganza during the Royal Tour of North America.  Say what you will about the 29-year-old Brit’s safe fashion choices, the verdict is in and women the world over approve of her mix of high street and high fashion ensembles.

Joining the fashion pack is perhaps one of the most well dressed women we’ve layed eyes on, Her Royal Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned of Qatar, a bonafide fashionista with a wardrobe to kill.  Whether greeting heads of state alongside her husband, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, addressing the United Nations or attending a power player’s soiree, Sheika Mozah looks elegant and classic while adhering to her conservative culture of covering up.  She has an affinity for gorgeous head dresses that match her gowns and has fun with fashion by showing off her figure with waist cinching belts.  Her timeless dressing is reminiscent of former First Lady Jackie Kennedy, who preferred capes worn with gowns instead of frumpy long coats.

Fashion ‘It’ girl Shala Monroque also nabbed a spot on the Vanity Fair International Best-Dressed List with her much coveted high fashion wardrobe.  She is a staple in high fashion mags like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.  Shala is also besties with Prada’s creative director Miuccia which is probably why she’s often snapped in the season’s best trends from the Italian fashion house. It was no surprise to also see French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy on the list with her haute couture style.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps actress Carey Mulligan and her oh-so! adorable pixie cut made the list for a second year in a row.  A few of her red carpet standouts have included Canadian designer Erdem, Prada, Prabal Gurung, and Chanel.  Among the newcomers were Justin Timberlake, Colin Firth, singer Janelle Monae, Armie Hammer and Christine Lagarde, chief of the International Monetary Fund.  President and Mrs. Obama as well as David Lauren (Vice President of Marketing at Ralph Lauren) and fiance Lauren Bush (Feed Foundtion) made the Best Dressed Couples List.  One of our swoon-worthy news anchors, Brian Williams, made the Best-Dressed List Hall of Fame.
