Prior to leaving the house this morning, I dabbed on a bit of my Dolce and Gabbana The One perfum to make me feel more sexy and powerful. When I arrived at the metro, it was unusually crowded. Friday mornings in the Washington, DC metro system is not as busy during a normal week because most people take the day off. I boarded the train as usual and preceded to stand in the corner since I could not find a seat anywhere on this eight-car train. People were so close to each other that I could feel the breath of the person next to me. I felt as though my personal space was being invaded so I turned to try to ask the guy to back off. When I turned, I saw one of the most dashing looking guys dressed to the nines and wearing what looked to be a Vineyard Vines tie. He smiled at me, apologized and asked me what fragrance I was wearing. I simply smiled and replied “It’s called The One by Dolce and Gabbana.” He revealed that toothy grin again and said to me, “You definately are.” WHOA! Was this guy trying to pick me up?

I turned back around and kept reading my Marie Claire magazine. When we arrived at my stop in Rosslyn and it was finally time to make my exit. Before doing so, I asked him politely for his number and he quickly obliged by giving me his business card. Nice! We did the good ‘ole Washington handshake, the card exchange. He e-mailed me when I got to work; he wrote that he, “couldn’t get that smell out of my head. You smelled amazing. I was taken aback by your non-hostile response to my question. I would love to take you out to lunch or dinner in two weeks.” TWO WEEKS? Then he continued to explain, “I won’t ask you out for next week because it’s Restaurant Week and I don’t want you to think I am cheap.” He definately score extra points in my book.

Lesson learned….always finish of your beauty routine with a dab of your favorite perfume because you will never know who is smelling you on the metro ;). There is one catch however, make sure you are not dousing yourself in perfume. Once again, a little goes a long way. Mix the perfume with an unscented lotion before application; this ensures that the perfume will last a lot longer. You should also spend a little bit more for the eau de parfum. It is a more potent form on the fragrance and lasts longer after the top notes have disipated. Once you are done, finish off with a spritz on your pressure points for effectiveness. So go ahead GG and get the senses going by smelling goooooooooood.
