“Why do you need so much nail polish?” my gay roommate would ask me.  He was baffled that I had more than one of each color.  Painting my nails is a form of self expression and a ritual I partake in each week.  So I was stoked when Glam Media asked me to participate in the Sally Hansen  I <3 Nail Art Contest campaign.  They sent me a plethora of nail polishes, nail art pens and textures to try out with free reign over what I wanted to do with them.

SAlly Hansen I Heart Nail Art

For starters, I am not that fancy when it comes to nail art but I do dabble in creating simple and easy stripes, circles and even French manicures.  I decided to get a bit fancy with my nail art for the  I <3 Nail Art Contest by drawing inspiration from the Chanel Haute Couture runway show, which had opulent textures, crystals and feathers in the blue and silver color palettes.

I decided to go ombre with the blue and silver to get more dimension.  I used two colors from the Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear collection – Blue It and Celeb City.  These two complimentary colors are incredibly opulent and easy to apply.  To emulate the look, follow these super simple and easy instructions:

1.  Apply a base coat to your nails

2. Carefully brush on two coats of the Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in  Celeb City (silver) and let dry (5 minutes tops)

3.  Apply the Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Blue It to the tips of your nails (doesn’t have to be perfect)

4. Apply a top coat on top to seal the color.

TIP: To keep your nail polish from chipping, use gloves when washing dishes or doing chores.
