When I think of pompadour hairstyles, I think of big, Jersey housewives hair. Sounds super tacky. But pompadours can actually be very classy as showcased by Brooke Burk Charvet. Her pompadour/chignon hybrid is perfect for that wedding you’re going to be dragging your feet to this summer. Or any other formal event that you’re actually excited to go to. Recreate this look and steal the bride’s thunder with these step by step instructions from Celebrity Stylist Jonathan Hanousek.

  1. Start with damp hair and spray Bumble and Bumble Thickening Spray and White Sands UnderCover Styling Spray all over.
  2. Take two clean pieces from the corners of the eyes and pull them towards the back of the crown and pin the section out of the way. From here, smooth strands by blow drying the rest of the hair with a medium round brush.
  3. Create a ponytail by gathering the hair from the sides and secure it with a elastic hair band. Tame fly always using a fine tooth tail comb and White Sands Infinity Hairspray.
  4. Take the hair left out of the ponytail and blow dry with a small round brushUsing a small round brush blow dry. Make sure to concentrate on lifting the roots for volume. Apply a few spritz of Moroccan Oil Glimmer Shine Spray all over to smooth and shine .
  5. Create the pomp with your fingers and a blow dryer by pushing hair up and towards the center. Spray White Sands Infinity Hairspray to hold the shape.
  6. Place crisscross bobby pins down the center of the pomp and roll one side over to conceal, fastening with invisible hairpins. Try and make a loose French twist and adjust accordingly for what fits your face best. The less symmetrical the better.
  7. Let the rest of the hair cover the first ponytail. Fasten with a couple pins. Then, gather all the remaining hair and create a single braid.
  8. Now twist the braid upward, tuck in the ends and fasten with bobby and invisible hair pins. Set the whole look with White Sands Stuck Up Mega Hold Hairspray.
