Can it be spring here in New York City already? I still find myself reaching for coats when I go out for a coffee run or a night out on the town. I am impatiently waiting to wear all my spring and summer staples like puff-sleeved midi dresses, denim skirts, peasant-style blouses, my white jeans with Breton stripes of all kinds, and all my open-toed sandals. I recently purged my spring/summer closet and sold them with the girls from Blogger House Curvy Closet. This means there’s room for new items to update my closet so I perused a lot of my favorite online shops to curate pieces I can wear and restyle with items I already own.

Even though I haven’t completely packed away the heavy coats and boots, I did take inventory of what I will be needing for the new season and bought some light and airy clothes and shoes from Abercrombie, MyTheresa, and Revolve. Here are some of the items that I recently purchased for spring 2023 to refresh my wardrobe.

1. Midi Skirt Sets from Abercrombie
Midi-length skirts and dresses are staples in my closet year-round because their lengths are forgiving on my petite frame, flatters my shape, and look a lot dressier than shorter hemlines.

I found this gorgeous navy leaf printed midi skirt while denim shopping on Abercrombie’s website two weeks ago and immediately added it to my cart.  The skirt comes in two prints and one color so I got the navy print and the lime green, a spring color I’m currrently crushing on and want to wear more of this spring. There is a matching off-the-shoulder peasant style cropped top, sold seperately of course. I can mix and match these skirt and tops with items I already own in my closet. I also bought this white eyelet skirt and matching top for my birthday trip to Tulum this month.

2. Spring and Summer Sandals
I added three new pairs of shoes to my shoe closet to carry me through to the end of summer. The first pair is these gladiator-style brown sandals to replace my old pair from Madewell (pictured below). I love this classic sandal because it looks good with almost everything in my spring wardrobe plus it’s light enough to take on travel adventures without taking too much room in my luggage.

Platform shoes are still in for spring, which is great for those of us that love a good heel without sacrificing comfort. I got a second pair of the Versace Aevitas platform pumps in purple for dressy events. Don’t let the height fool you! These shoes are comfortable and I can wear them for about four hours before my feet start hurting, which makes them perfect for evening events. I already own the light pink version of the shoes. They are not for everyone. The Bratz doll-looking toe box can be jarring but they are so fun to wear. If you’re looking for something less over the top, check out the Valentino Tan-go pumps, which come in a variety of colorways.

My newest shoe acquisition is this Ancient Greek Sandals Aristea in black. The platform style is rubberized which makes it more comfortable for walking around for hours plus the sandal is more stylish so it can be dressed up or down. I also bought the Arys thong sandals in white, which are much cheaper than The Row Ginza thong sandals.

3. Accessories and Staples
I’m a sucker for gold accessories! As a matter of fact, I was taking inventory of my jewelry and realized I only own three pieces of silver. I’ve been eyeing these gold Bottega Venetta Drop Earrings for several months but I just couldn’t justify paying $1,350 for them. They also come in sterling silver for $100 less. I found these gold earrings from Shashi that have a similar effect. The hoop style is more practical for everyday wear and looks just as beautiful. Don’t get me wrong, those Bottega drops are to die for but I rarely wear the same earrings twice in a week. I also got the silver version of the Shashi Tsuki earrings for $65 from Revolve.

Summer is synonymous with basket bags. I own several bags, which have been on rotation for the last few years. I have been looking for a more elevated basket bag that I can wear with dressier outfits. I’ve been eyeing the bags with leather accents with the Loewe x Paula’s Ibiza tote being top of mind. The new styles are lovely but I’m a bit over the Loewe basket bags. I’m loving the Santorini-style leather basket bags by DeMellier, which retail for a fraction of the Loewe and Louis Vuitton bags. The mini version of the leather DeMellier Santorini is $265 and comes in six colorways.

I also bought two packs of Abercrombie square neck tank tops as everyday basics for jeans and skirts. The tanks look good under blazers and tanks. The large straps are perfect to conceal my bra straps and they fit like a dream.

In conclusion, refreshing your wardrobe for spring 2023 doesn’t have to be complicated. By adding a few key pieces such as midi skirts and matching tops that can be mixed and styled with other pieces in your closet; versatile gladiator sandals and platform pumps for comfort and style; and statement jewelry and basket bags to complete your look, you can create a stylish and versatile wardrobe that will take you through the season.
