Debra Lloyd, the new creative director at Kate Spade, unveiled her first ready-to-wear collection for the women’s brand this week to editors at Fashion Week Daily. The new collection stays true to the Kate Spade looks that many women have grown to love; what it’s not is boring. “I’m awakening Sleeping Beauty,” said Lloyd. “I played with scale and color but kept the DNA consistent.”

The collection of accessories are inspired by travel destinations: Sullivan Street, with its graphic but modern designs; the structured leather of the Tarrytown collection; flight inspired Par Avion collection; Alpine; Calabasas and Belinas, both in California and the most lux grouping, Beausoleil, genuine python bags and small accessories based on classic Kate Spade shapes. Lloyd designed beach bags for weekends in Nantucket or the Caribbean. There’s a bit of something for everyone in this collection. Lloyd does not disappoint. From woven metallic gold clutches to mod print dresses breezy enough for a weekend away, the Kate Spade collection is a must for resort. [FWD]
