The inspiration for this nail came from my obsession with one of my long-time staple nail colors – OPI’s Jade is the New Black. With two coats, my nails look good enough to appraise! It’s one of my favorite colors and was a jump for me to even try. I’m a Glamazon who sticks to her staples – especially when it comes to manicures and pedicures. After being a loyal fan of Essie’s Midnight Cami (Fall/Winter) and OPI’s La Paz-itively Hot (Spring/Summer), I took a chance on Jade is the New Black and haven’t looked back since.
As a Glamour magazine Glambassador, Sally Hansen provided me with a full set of their latest Crackle Overcoat polishes. Available in 8 shades, you apply a thin or thick layer on top of any regular nail polish. Depending on how much you put on, the formula creates a unique crackle effect that’s different with every color combination! When I got the set, I knew I would have to use my Jade as a base with at least one or two of the Crackle Overcoat shades.
For my Crackle manicure this week, I did two coats of Jade is the New Black and a light coat of Distressed Denim. I applied one thin layer then continued to brush it until I had the desired effect. As it was my first Crackle mani, it was a little bit of trial and error but I love how it turned out. Both colors come out bright and the design is very noticeable. I’m calling it “Water Cracked Jade.” Hope you like!
If you were going to get a Crackle mani, what would you choose as your base color?
