There’s something extremely satisfying about a product that actually does what it claims to do. That might make me sound a little jaded but it’s the truth. Think about how many different brands you purchase when it comes to beauty products. With so many options, you hope that you’re getting what you paid for and actually seeing the effects.
What’s better than your product doing exactly what it boasted? When it does even more, obviously. The discovery is usually made when you’re looking for a certain product only to learn you’re fresh out. Using your years of self-taught beauty school, you find something that might work ‘just as good.’ Fortunately, you’re pleasantly surprised.
Besides saving space in your cosmetic bag, you get the benefit of more options. And who doesn’t like more options? If you’re in the market for new multi-purpose wonders, consider a few of my favorites…
Satin Sugar All-Purpose Treatment Balm, $20
The first thing I noticed about this little wonder tube was that it smelled good enough to eat. Cake Beauty blended emollient beeswax and shea butter to make a multi-tasking mixture that feels like magic. It soothes dry, itchy skin, tames frizz, or soothes minor burns. Need more of a reason? No parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes, petrochemicals, phthalates, GMOs, or triclosan.
(I’m also a big fan of the famous Rosebud Salve – I always keep one at home in case I lose the other!)
Benefit Cosmetics Erase Paste: Concealer, $26
Be warned. This concealer is not for the faint of heart! Available in a .15oz size, Erase Paste is a fine example of a little going a long way. I’m terribly guilty of raccoon eyes and this is the only concealer that makes a difference. Not only does it hide, it goes one extra step and brightens. When I’m too lazy to wear full foundation, I spot this on my problem areas and within minutes, I have even-toned skin.
Tip: If I don’t have eye shadow primer, I use a little – I mean little – bit of this stuff instead.
Stila Convertible Color in Petunia, $25
I can’t remember when I first fell in love with Convertible Color but I can honestly say it’s been a long, loving relationship. Super easy to apply, I use the corner of a sponge or my finger when I’m in a rush. The formula goes smoothly and looks natural when applied onto clean skin – something very important to me. You can use Convertible Color on your lips and cheeks – building the coverage as you go.
Tip: I like to mix some Convertible Color with the Satin Sugar All-Purpose Treatment Balm for a gorgeous, glossy lip.
OMBRE BLACKSTAR by TERRY, $42.50
Magic. I picked up OMBRE BLACKSTAR about two seconds after I’d read there was black pearl extract in the formula. I’d never tried a product with it so I was excited to see what it could do. It glides on smoothly and is easy to create lines of all sizes with precision. Thinly line your lids for a subtle look or make them chunkier for a more glamorous effect. It is great as a liner but works just as perfectly as shadow. Plus, it is waterproof!
