Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City closed its doors with a high-octane show last Thursday. Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B runway presentation had the star power in the front row as well as music that had guests dancing in their seats.  With hubby Gavin and son Kingston in the front row, as well as former No Doubt band mates.

The L.A.M.B show was great  beautiful collection of ikat and African print dresses, flowing tie-dye dresses, ladies in fedora straw hats, tapered pant suits and multi-layered dresses. I couldn’t help but think, I’ve seen this all before when the first two looks came out.  As a Ghanaian girl who loves getting clothes made in my native country, I’ve seen a lot of the styles L.A.M.B showed on its runway and in similar if not the same prints. There is no denying Gwen’s talent; those in the audience who don’t keep abreast of fashion’s coming out of Africa were awed.

L.A.M.B’s Ska-infused collection for Spring 2011 will be a must have in my closet because its a re-invention of African fabrics and styles. My favorite pieces were the blue plaid pant suits, ikat suit, one shoulder navy blue frock and a darling sheer tie-dye dresses that will surely be making its rounds at summer soirees.
