It was all about girl power at Jean Paul Gaultier’s couture showing this week in Paris. The mastermind behind so many compelling and successful shows in seasons past was back at it again, this time highlighting heroines throughout movie history. Models dressed as Bridgitte Bardot, sailors, soldiers and ethereal femmes who’ve made movie magic in to die for costumes. JPG always has free reign on his projects and it was the case this time around as well.

The couture collection was beautiful, showcasing JPG’s handiwork; his impeccable attention to detail. After all, isn’t that what couture is all about. I thought the collection was a bit schizophrenic because though the theme was an homage to heroines, I didn’t see anything cohesive. It was all over the place, but then again, that’s what Jean Paul Gaultier is known for. I loved almost everything in his couture collection, especially the gowns, which I can see on the most glamorous of all glamazons, Angelina Jolie. This couture collection was a fantasy collection but one that did not disappoint.
