Kids' Inaugural Concert

Michelle Obama debuted bangs this week to kick off the Inauguration festivities as well as celebrate her birthday.  Since we’re really loving the look enough to send us to the salon for that big crop in the front.  Before getting in the salon chair, we asked George Gonzalez of George the Salon Chicago to give us advice on how to ask for the ‘Obama Bang’ at our local salons.  After his advice, I’ve decided not to pursue the bang because I have naturally curly hair.  No shrinkage in front for this gal.

George says, Michelle Obama’s new bang is texturized, which gives a softer piecey edge to the normal blunt style.  To achieve the look, he suggests asking your stylist to chip in with the tips of their shears followed by using texturizing scissors to soften the initial cut to finish. Say what now? Make sure your stylists knows these tools and how to use them. If he or she has never used either, RUN!

George continues on to say that hair types that are very coarse, thick and curly will have a harder time pulling this look off unless you want to take the time to use a blow dryer and flat iron to style. Ideally, straight or slightly wavy strands that are fine to normal will work best for this new ‘Obama Bang’.”
