As we flipped through magazines and perused websites this spring, we went gaga for the eau naturel. Neutral, natural, new nudes are our favorite look – eminently wearable to the office, parties and play, these classic looks are perfectly put together – something that any good DC-er loves. Stroll the halls of the House or Senate buildings in a neutral sheath dress and you’re on your way to a corner office in no time. Pair this season’s far-out neons with neutral shoes to avoid your look being too over-the-top. We are huge fans of the colorb locked look, but, to match with DC’s more conservative style, pairing neutral shades together can form a pretty palate that won’t cause passers-by on Wisconsin Avenue to stop and go “what WAS she thinking?!?”

A word to the wise – we stuck with classic, feminine silhouettes for our neutral palate- you want this look to be polished, pressed and yes, maybe even ironed. For an elongated leg, we’re thrilled that wedges and espadrilles have come back into style – nude shoes make your legs look long and lean without the pain of heels. And, in 90+ degree DC summer heat … Who wants to be any more uncomfortable than they already are? Plus, this trend is a great jumping off point to move into the boho chic look, to pop with a splash of oh so trendy (yet harder to pull off in DC) neon and to use as a transition into full on white for summer.
