I had the pleasure of inviting about 60 friends and Glamazon Diaries readers to the preview of Confessions of a Shopaholic last Thursday night at the AMC Theaters at the Mazza Galleries. The girls that showed up looked as fab as ever in some of the hottest designer frocks and ensembles – proving that Washingtonians have style. Among the girls that came were two of Blonde Charity Mafia stars, Sophie Pyle and Katherine Kennedy, as well as fellow blogger Kate Michael and other fabulous fashionistas. Two lucky Glamazon Diaries readers won second and third place prizes for being fashionably dressed.

The movie was very delightful and definitely a must see for the shopaholics and fashion lovers. The lesson learned at the end of the movie was that overindulgence is a bad thing, especially when credit collectors are literally banging on your door and hounding you at work. Best line of the movie was when Isla Fisher’s character Becky Bloomwood gets caught in a lie on national television as being a hypocrite who writes about financial savviness for the average woman. When asked why she shopped and how she got into the predicament she was in, she says, “When I shop the world gets better. And then it’s not, and I need to do it again.”

We’ve all been there, splurging on a cute dress or shoes when you know you can’t afford them but have to have them. The lessons in the movie are ones that we all should learn, especially in this tough economy. Tough lesson for Becky was realizing that she needed to do something about her $16k credit card debt compliments of her shopping habit.
