This fall, D.C has played host to a wide variety of fashion-related fundraisers and soirees. Friday’s Fashion for Autism runway show, held at Georgetown’s historic City Tavern Club, was hugely successful as these events go.
Fashion for Autism was founded last year by designer Edwing D’Angelo, and premiered at NYFW that February. Its primary purpose is to build awareness for autism by inviting designers across the country to showcase their collections in an evening of “fundraising, style, and grace”
The collection presented at City Tavern Club was D’Angelo’s own, as worn by models from Betsey Johnson’s Georgetown location. The models looked fierce yet delicate in fluttery gowns from D’Angelo’s collection, and as guests noshed on Serendipity cupcakes and champagne, funds and awareness for the 1 in 150 children suffering from autism funneled in. In attendance were many of D.C’s most fashionable, including former Miss D.C Kate Michael and current Miss D.C Stephanie Williams.
