Happy New Year and Good Morning from Dallas! We’re getting ready to head back to New York City after spending four months of winter in Texas. I’m so excited to see our Brooklyn apartment again and just be amongst my things. If you follow me in Instagram, you’ll remember Thomas and me celebrating New Year’s Eve at my friend Jessica’s wedding. The ceremony was held at Le Meridien Dallas, The Stoneleigh Hotel in the Penthouse suite. We nibbled on heavy hors d’oeuvres, lots of strong delicious cocktails and then enjoyed the fireworks the blazed the Dallas sky at midnight. All in all, it was a fantastic night seeing two people we love so much get to say “I Do” after such a tumultuous year of a global pandemic.

The next day, Jessica was kind enough to let us use her Penthouse suite to take our save the date photos with famed Dallas wedding photographer Charla Storey, who we met during our David’s Bridal spring 2021 campaign shoot. Our wedding is on September 4, 2021 (Labor Day Weekend) in France and we are kind of behind in planning. We need to send our Save the Date cards as soon as possible so Charla took a few photos of us to use for that as well as our wedding invitation website.

I chose a wintry velvet tulip dress by Eloquii (shorter version in sequins here) with Sarah Flint Perfect 85 pumps for the shoot while Thomas opted for tweed trousers, a cashmere sweater and a camel coat by Banana Republic and suede high tops by Mr. Porter. The setting is so fancy yet inviting with chandeliers and nooks with book cases. Thomas and I spent the night before this shoot nestled in these corners with martinis in hand after the wedding ceremony and thought this location was perfect to remember Dallas by.

We’re going to create our Save the Date cards on Minted.com because are still finalizing our wedding details and stationary vendors. Since we’re seven months out from our destination wedding, it’s very important to send out all the cards as soon as possible. The rule of thumb for sending save the dates for destination weddings is six to seven months prior to the wedding and at least twelve weeks (3 months) for the invitation themselves. We are almost in February, which means time is ticking. We absolutely love how our images came out and we’ll definitely be designing our cards this week in order to beat the deadline.

Did you create your own save the date cards or did you hire a professional to do them for you?
