While chronicling all the outfit worn by Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, one theme emerged.  The stunning brunette loves the color green and has worn it throughout the year, often repeating certain dresses.  Who could forget the Diane von Furstenberg Maja dress she wore in Los Angeles and then again for the pre-wedding party for Zara Phillips.

Catherine hits it out of the park each time she wears the color green.  Most recently, she visited St. Andrews School wearing a green plaid coat dress from McQ by McQueen, which looked absolutely smashing on her.  Over the past few months, we’ve seen her in a peplum LK Bennett jacket and sheath dress, a breathtaking coat green coat worn on St. Patrick’s Day by Emilia Wickstead and even an emerald green shirt dress by Mulberry.  So we ask the question, did this style setter inspire this Pantone’s 2013 color of the year?

Emerald green is a universally flattering color that is aesthetically pleasing as well.  It is regal yet statement making and sets the tone for all seasons.

According to Pantone, it chose Emerald Green as the color of choice for 2013 after surveying trends from red carpets (Catherine being a staple), runways of Paris, London, Milan and New York, as well as textiles developed for interiors.

Pantone Colour Institute executive director Leatrice Eiseman said, Emerald Green is “the most abundant hue in nature, the human eye sees more green than any other color.” Well go figure.

Designers like Zac Posen, Nanette Lepore, Mulberry, Diane von Furstenberg, Tracy Reese, Gucci, Burberry and Sportmax all adopted emerald green for their runway shows.

Here are twenty nail polish shades inspired by the 2013 color of the year.  And even though the Duchess of Cambridge might never sport green nails publicly, we still secretly hope to see her rocking more green while pregnant.
