Celebrities Wearing Mules

It’s no surprise I am a fiend for shoes, which is why my closet is brimming with a plethora of shoes of all kinds.  This spring, I will be adding a new style to the mix, the mule.  Favored by celebs like Rihanna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Olivia Palermo and Lily Collins, these backless heels perfectly pair with denim, shorts and frilly dresses this spring.

The mule was once reserved for the over-60 set or in the boudoir, only if covered in maribou fur of course.  For spring 2014, designers have brought back the mule in more modern styles the fashion set is quickly clamoring to.

Tibi, Stella McCartney, Alexander Wang, Gianvito Rossi, Chloe, and so many other have revamped the backless shoe with new fabrics, embellishments, and shapes.  Even high street brands like Zara have come out with their own versions.

There are so many styles to choose from for day or evening wear, including flat sandal, a chunky heel, or a sleek stiletto.  Sophia Webster has a white and pastel floral strappy mule to perfectly show off that spring pedicure.  For more inspiration on how to wear the mule this spring, check out Victoria Beckham, Altuzarra, Helmut Lang, Nonoo and Adam Lippes, all of whom styled their collections with this shoe style.
