The Renaissance Hotel invited guests to the Times Square location for the premiere of its RLife LIVE, a series of live performances, culinary and art events.  Headlining the launch party was three-time Grammy Award-winning R&B crooner Robin Thicke, who sang many of his hit singles including Magic, Lost Without You and Wanna Love You Girl.  Solange Knowles warmed up the crowd with a fabulous DJ set that had the crowd gyrating to the sounds of Michael Jackson.

The entire night was a magical experience inside the Renaissance New York Times Square.  Beginning with an elegant decor with candles and flowers, guests were ushered into the main room, which was surrounded by the bright lights of Times Square. It was the same room that doubled as Samantha Jones’ office in the second installment of the Sex and the City movies.

Of course it would not be a New York launch party without celebrities. DJ Samantha Ronson wrapped up the concert series with a few sets that had the entire room buzzing. I’m happy to report that Lindsey Lohan was no where in sight. Rapper David Banner stopped by to say hello to Solange and special guests behind the DJ booth; Kourtney Kardashian and her boyfriend Scott Disick secluded themselves in the corner of the room to listen to Robin Thicke perform. I had to admit I was a bit disappointed that the pair refused to be photographed by fans. DJ Nice and Minka Kelly also stopped by.

The celebrity I was smitten with the most was legendary Guns N Roses guitarist Slash, who is by far my favorite guitarist to date. I had to pull out my Blackberry to show him my Slash costume from a few years back. He was very impressed and took the time to take some photos with me.  The most bewitching experience for me however was Robin Thicke grabbing my glass of red wine and taking a sip from it. All the girls in the room went bananas and were probably seething in jealousy.

The Renaissance RLife LIVE series will take place at Renaissance hotels around the country with appearances by the hottest music acts, art installations and culinary delights. To see the full schedule of performances and events, visit the RLife LIVE page on Facebook.
