He’s back! Not the Same Ol’ G! but a more mature Ginuwine who is ready to drop his sixth studio album called A Man’s Thoughts. Now ladies and gents, you all remember Mr. Ginuwine, who alongside Missy Elliot, Timbaland and Magoo, Aaliyah and Fat Man Scoop, made the ’90s hotter. These artists ruled the mid to late ’90s and inspired so many trends in dance, art and clothing.

I remember learning every single one of Aaliyah’s dance moves, watching BET religiously to see if my favorite tracks would come on. Remember Pony, Same Ol’ G, Hot Like Fire and Up Jumps the Boogie? Yea those were the days.

Meeting and interviewing Ginuwine and his beautiful wife, former rapper Sole, took me back to the golden days of hip hop and R&B. Ginuwine’s new album is coming out on June 23 and promises to not disappoint. He’s got some dance mixes to keep us dancing our feet at the clubs and collaborations with Timbaland that I know will surely be hot.

Ginuwine is a local boy err man! He and his wife truly call Washington home. Solé, who introduced herself to me as Tonya, her real name, is also fabulous. She looked so chic in her LBD and long Chanel necklace. She chatted about being a mom to four fabulous little girls who adore fashion and music as much as their parents. She is also getting her degree in interior design and hopes to take some classes later at the Corcoran School of Art & Design.

I took the opportunity to take a picture with Ginuwine and Solé. They were at the Ritz Carlton in Georgetown to support the album release of their friends Marcus Johnson and Ski Johnson, two jazz sensations whose albums reach the Billboard Top Ten charts.

Me and Ski Johnson during the reception portion of the night. He also played some sets for guests, which was a welcomed treat. The album release party, which was sponsored by Maker’s Mark, Tarara Winery, Capitol File magazine, was such a success. Seeing the who’s who of Washington coming out to support the arts, entertainment and charity (proceeds of the album sales from the night went to the American Cancer Society) was exhilarating.

WJLA news anchor Leon Harris, one of my favorite anchors and my Grandmother’s absolute favorite came out as well. Leon even promised to send my Granny a small present in Ghana. So sweet.
