On Saturday, September 27, the Library of Congress and First Lady Laura Bush invite you to National Book Festival on the National Mall from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. As a member of the Junior League of Washington, I will be volunteering alongside the other ladies at various booths, book signings and other activities as we promote our platform of literacy in the community.

Let your imagination run wild as you discover new books and revisit old favorites at the National Book Festival. Over 70 authors and illustrators are participating in this year’s event, including Kimberly Dozier, Salman Rushdie, Bob Shieffer, Tiki Barber, Dionne Warwick, Warren Brown, Arthur Frommer and many many more. There will be lots of activities for adults and children including an opportunity to take photos with various book characters and book signings. The Book Festival is free and open to the public so come out this Saturday, September 27, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., between 3rd and 7th streets. I suggest you metro instead of driving downtown because I guarantee there will be ZERO parking available.
