I’ve had a love-hate relationship with leather since high school. I love carrying leather bags and wearing leather shoes but have always loathed leather clothing. Why? Because the leather looks I could afford were either made cheaply or were not on par with my fashion standards. Who could forget “pleather” garments? They always looked so cheap and either too shiny or too matte. I just couldn’t get myself to cough up my money for such garb. You could say I’ve always had caviar dreams on a beer budget.

Over the last few years, thanks to the advancement in technology, designers (both luxury and high street) have mastered the art of creating vegan leather aka fake leather garments that look as good as the real thing. Sure some like Stella McCartney charge thousands of dollars for fake leather but others on high street are making leather cool and luxe for the masses. I’m always a sucker for the leather look once the weather cools down because I can get away with a bit of insulation in my garments.

It’s no secret I prefer midi length garments. I immediately fell in love with this twilight blue vegan leather skirt from Eloquii, a brand I wear often. I concocted at least five ways to style this skirt as soon as the promo newsletter hit my inbox. I own several turtleneck bodysuits and this skirt was begging to be paired with one.

I always love to keep things simple because I was going for a sleek, understated vibe. I added monochromatic pieces like my Louis Vuitton Lock Me pumps (old) and a cropped faux fur coat. The piece de resistance is the navy Lack of Color rancher I snagged off Amazon. It’s the proper topper to elevate the look. I added gold accessories, including vintage earrings, a vintage YSL bracelet I found in France and a gold link necklace from Zara (recent purchase). Style tip, swap silver accessories for gold ones to make your look instantly more luxe and expensive.

These Louis Vuitton Lock Me pumps were my very first LV shoe purchase and I’ve been in love ever since. I also own them in a beautiful burgundy color. Sadly, they were from the Marc Jacobs era so the only place you’ll find them will be on The Real Real, Tradesy and eBay.
