How to Wear Sweater Sets for fall

Show of hands, who is ready for sweater weather? As much as I regale in fall’s romanticism (autumn leaves and all), I cringe when the weather dips below 50 degrees. Those of us on the East Coast have already whipped out our winter coats in anticipation for unscheduled cold fronts, wind gusts and the surprise snowfalls come November. Dressing for the season is a cinch thanks to cold weather heroes like soft sweaters, wool coats, turtlenecks, and tights.

First up on my sweata weatha (gotta love an SNL reference) essentials list is this zebra striped sweater set from H&M (sold separately). It’s made of soft, jacquard-knit wool with a fluffy finish that will have you feeling yourself. I’m not kidding! The fabric is ultra-soft and feels so cozy, I couldn’t help but run my fingers up and down my sleeve. The turtleneck on the collar will keep the fall/winter chills away. The high waisted calf-length skirt is slinky. It sits at the waist thanks to a ribbed waistband and is complete with a sexy slit at the back of hem.

I love to style this look with a white bootie like this one from Charles & Keith. Once we get closer to 30-degree weather, I’ll definitely be opting for tall boots like this one from Louise et Cie or this slouchy over the knee boots by Vince Camuto. This ferocious striped number calls for a pop of color, which can be achieved with a pastel-colored clutch like this one, also from Charles & Keith. As for jewelry, why not make a statement with bold drop earrings like this floral number from blogger Anchyi Wei’s collaboration with Washington, D.C. designer Mindy Lam.
