Bono and his wife,Ali Hewson, are ROCKSTARS. Aside from ONE, they have started a new clothing venture called EDUN, a socially conscious clothing company. Since its inception in 2005, the company has been employing workers in developing countries, particularly Africa, to help build sustainable communities. The company works on a micro-level to build the skill sets of factory workers in countries where the clothing are produced. What a concept? Helping families of impoverished nations support themselves indefinitely by acquiring the trade skills. EDUN is currently produced in India, Peru, Tunisia, Kenya, Uganda, Lesotho, Mauritius and Madagascar. Join the movement. The clothes are fab and nothing boosts my confidence more than knowing that I am doing something to help someone else. Check out some of the chic looks from the spring collection.

In addition, EDUN acts as a voice encouraging the fashion community to do business in Africa and thereby help bring the continent out of extreme poverty. In 1980, Africa had 6% share of the world trade. By 2002, this had dropped to just 2% despite Africa having 12% of the world’s population. If Africa could regain just an additional 1% share of global trade, it would earn $70 billion more in exports each year. This is several times more than what the region currently receives in international assistance.
