Once in a while I discover clothing labels that make me stop dead in my tracks. Sika Designs is no exception. I discovered this designer, Phyllis Taylor, last year at the Runway Africa fashion show in Washington, DC. The concept of the clothing line is ingenious. The clothes are inspired by the rich and diverse culture of Ghana, West Africa but styled in European cuts and shapes. Fabrics are hand selected in Ghanaian markets and hand made by women in Ghana. The company’s mission is to empower women to be entrepreneurs and help them establish a monthly income to help their families. Now that’s a concept I can wrap my mind and my wallet around.

I simply adore this coat in chocolate brown and that poufy A-line skirt. I can only think of one thing, pair the skirt with a cute J.Crew t-shirt, add a few accessories and strap on some espadrilles.
Can this cap sleeve dress be any cuter? If you prefer to show off your figure a little bit more, go for the wrap dress. This baby doll dress is simply darling. I love the bright color and the print. The bow adds a bold touch to this flared baby doll dress. Pair it with some tights and pumps or so a little bit tamer with jeans. I love this chocolate jacket. It reminds me of a bolder Lilly Pulitzer jacket.
I bought this shirt dress last year immediately following the fashion show. Pop your collar for a preppy look or fold down the collar and adorn your neck with pearls and a platform heel.

Fun fact: Sika means money in Twi, a dialect in Ghana.
