Food Should Taste This Good

This has been an incredible summer of adventures in food.  From exploring new restaurants off the beaten path to trying new cuisines, like the chicken tagine at Boulud Sud, having good food is now a must.  As I try and curb my unhealthy eating habits, I’ve started learning how to choose healthier snack options that will keep me satiated and feeling good.

I recently got introduced to Food Should Taste This Good, a line of chips made with the simplest of ingredients, nutrient rich and wholesome.  Founded in 2006 by Pete Lescoe, Food Should Taste This Good serves up chip varieties that are gluten free, cholesterol free, have zero grams trans fats. They are also certified Kosher.  Plus, many varieties are certified vegan.  You get 10 chips per serving at 140 calories.  Each bag has zero trans fats and 21 grams of whole grains.

I tried the Blue Corn, Multigrain, Sweet Potato and Olive tortilla chips, which were all hits.  If I had to pick my favorite, it would have to be the blue corn but the olive came in a close second.  The blue corn is made of Organic Blue Corn, High Oleic Sunflower Oil and/or Safflower Oil and/or Canola Oil, Brown Rice Flour, Flax Seeds, Cane Sugar, Sesame Seeds, Sunflower Seeds, Sea Salt, Quinoa, Rosemary Extract. That’s it! I dare you to look at the back of your current tortilla chips. I bet you’ll find a lot of ingredients you probably won’t be able to pronounce and know what they are.

Food Should Taste Good keeps its ingredients transparent, which is what every food company should be doing anyway. Pair your chips with healthy dips like salsa, hummus and baba ganoush for a good flavor combo that is also healthy. A 7 oz. bag of FSTG retails for about $5.19 but you can also get a 6-pack for less than $27.  Check out the entire lineup at FoodShouldTasteGood.com.
