night_of_wishes_make_a_wish_auction

The simple pleasures of life are sometimes taken for granted because we have a relatively infinite amount of years to get things done, dreams fulfilled and to-do lists crossed off.   For many families, time is a bit more precious because of a terminally sick child.  These parents try their hardest to spend as much time as they can with their children and fulfill as much as they can with them.  Some of them, however, need a little help making their little angel’s dreams come true.  The dream of being a Disney Princess, a firefighter, meeting Justin Timberlake, be a superhero for the day or even have a princess bedroom decor are made possible by Make-a-Wish Foundation, a charity that fulfills the wishes of little children children battling terminal illnesses.

My friend Carissa tapped me to donate a few items for a fundraiser the alumnae chapter of her sorority, Chi Omega, was throwing in Washington, DC to raise money to make one local kid’s wish come true.  I jumped at the chance to donate some fun beauty items and asked Lara of Pretty Connected to do the same. Carissa was inspired by Miles Scott, a kid who just wanted to be BatKid for the day in San Francisco.  The local chapter there got the public involved and turned the entire city into Gotham City for Miles (read the story here).  I am such a softie for kids so this was a no brainer event to help out with.

If you’re in Washington, DC on Tuesday, July 22, please come by The 201 Bar for a silent auction fundraiser to make a DC area kid’s wish come true.  The goal, says Carissa, is to raise at least $7500, the cost of fulfilling one wish.  But we want to make it even bigger and make multiple wishes come true.  The Chi Omega ladies have tapped their networks to get fun auction items from the Washington Nationals, STK Washington, DC, The Huxley, Mervis Jewelers, The Washington Redskins, Uber, Copperwood Tavern, Pioneer Woman and more for this incredible event.

Purchase your tickets in advance on the Chi Omega DC Alumnae Chapter website for just $20 and come join our community to do something amazing this summer.
