Valentine's DayValentine’s Day has been pegged the most romantic day of the year and this is something that drives both men and women crazy.  For those with significant others, saying I love you in a grand gesture can be daunting.  For the single gals and gents, not having someone to go to dinner with or get a gift from can be a bit lonely.

As I have gotten older, I’ve realized that when it comes to Valentine’s Day, it’s all about me and my significant other.  Spending quality time together is a must because we both travel so much and have such hectic schedules that we like stay to ourselves and enjoy each other.

This is as simple as cooking dinner at home for two, Macallan 18 single malt whiskey for him, a tea infused gin cocktail for me and a shared bottle of champagne, a Netflix movie and a warm bath for two.

This is my idea of the perfect Valentine’s Day.  Instead of paying a lot of money for a three-course dinner in a packed Manhattan restaurant, I would rather have a relaxing oasis at home, where we can hear each other talk instead of screaming over loud tables.

A memorable way to spend V-Day is watching a romantic film together.  Coming out Valentine’s Day – February 14, 2014 is the film Winter’s Tale, a supernatural drama film based on the 1983 novel by Mark Helprin. The film is directed and written by Akiva Goldsman and stars Colin Farrell, Jessica Brown Findlay, Jennifer Connelly, Russell Crowe and Will Smith.

Set in 1916 and present-day Manhattan, Winter’s Tale follows the story of Peter Lake (Colin Farrell). Peter is a thief who falls in love with Beverly Penn (Jessica Brown Findlay), a dying girl who has tuberculosis and occupies one of the houses he breaks into. Lake is saved from the insane Irish gangster Pearly Soames (Russell Crowe) and his henchmen by Athansor, a mysterious white horse who becomes his guardian angel.
