NICOLE_MILLER-copyThe fashion industry wasn’t going to let the 2014 Super Bowl happen in New York without getting involved somehow.  The CFDA has tapped 48 designer to create limited-edition football helmets in collaboration with Bloomingdale’s and the NFL.  That’s right, fashionable football helmets.

“This is the first time that the Super Bowl will be held in the New York region and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate by joining Bloomingdale’s and the NFL in merging fashion and sports with the creation of these unique helmets,” said Steven Kolb, CFDA CEO, in a statement.

Starting January 15, the helmets will be up for auction at Bloomingdales.com, with 100% of proceeds benefiting the NFL Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of those “touched by the game of football.” The bidding for each piece starts at $248 (for the 48th Super Bowl) and ends on February 5.
