Dermablend has been flying under the radar for the past 30 years as one of the best kept makeup secrets in the world. Let’s be clear: Dermblend isn’t a you-can’t-see-my-blemish-but-you-can-see-my-makeup makeup. No ma’am! The formulas go on effortlessly using a beauty sponge or makeup brush and settles blends into the skin flawlessly. All the formulas leave a velvety smooth finish on the skin. What I’m obsessed with even more is that this makeup keeps working for over 12 hours, long after you’ve quit. The Smooth Indulgence Foundation with SPF is a liquid formula and the lightest of the foundations in the Dermablend collection. It settles into the skin to provide light to moderate coverage minor skin problems. If you have Rosacea, redness, uneven skin tone, minor acne scars or age spots, this formula is for you. It’s not greasy and works well with the rest of my makeup routine. It comes in 11 shades from fair to deep and in that spectrum, you can find the correct shade for you. I normally wear the ‘Suede’ but I sometimes mix the ‘Soft Mahogany’ to highlight and contour.
My new favorite makeup is the Cover Creme, which comes in a clear pot. It also has broad spectrum SPF 30 to protect the skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays. The Cover Creme is a godsend because it provides maximum coverage to hide major skin conditions like vitiligo, birthmarks, rosacea, burns, pigmentation disorders, post-operative bruising and scars. It’s the feel good makeup and I give it two thumbs up.
The Dermablend Cover Creme formula is dry and highly pigmented, covering up every major skin imperfections. A little goes a long way with this one and the results are truly astounding. Use a concealer brush first to cover major problem areas first, then go over those areas with a stippling brush or a densely packed brush like the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. Blend! Blend! Blend! Then set the formula with the Dermablend Loose Setting Powder or your favorite setting powder. This formula is intended to match skin perfectly and comes in twenty shades from fair to deep.
Another product I’ve been testing out is the Dermablend Leg and Body Cover. You might ask, “why do I need makeup on my legs and body?” One can develop a complex from having stretch marks, varicose veins, or scars on her body. I have a separate brush and makeup sponge I use to apply this foundation because I don’t want to use the same tools on my face.
This high coverage formula glides on smoothly and cover most minor imperfections. For more heavy-duty coverage, I start with a bit of the Cover Creme and then finish with the Leg and Body Cover. Set it with a loose powder for flawless leg and body. When used on the legs, the Dermablend Leg and Body Cover looks like you’re wearing perfectly matching pantyhose without the shine. Let the formula dry for about 10 minutes before brushing against anything you don’t want makeup on.
