Celebrities in Fair Isle Sweaters

Now that fall is in full swing, bundling up is essential.  It’s time to cue all your sweaters our under bed storage containers, including the Fair Isle sweater.  Don’t fret if you don’t have one, these mulch-patterned knit tops and cardigans are everywhere this season.

Named after a small island in northern Scotland, Fair Isle sweaters are knitted with two different colors in a row, with a design around the neckline and shoulders.  King Edward VIII made them popular in the 1920s when he wore Fair Isle tank in public. Since then, people have flocked to these sweater designs when the weather cools.

Fair Isle sweaters aren’t just for school age kids.  Celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker, Diane Kruger, Victoria Beckham and Rihanna are huge fans of the cool designs.  They can be worn with virtually anything,  from leather leggings and skirts to skinny jeans and corduroy pants.  Top your favorite skirt or pant with a Fair Isle sweater, which comes in colorful prints and designs this fall.  Oh, and don’t forget the accessories.
