There were so many plaid looks on the fall 2013 runways, it was hard to pick just one.  The preppy plaid got reinvented in cool ways that have popped up on red carpets and side walks.  Cynthia Rowley, Victoria Beckham, Tory Burch and Ralph Lauren showed us how to dress up plaid in modern ways but there were ten standout designers that hit the nail on the head.  You’ll be saying check mate when you see how effortless it is to style plaid for fall.  Plaid is a fall staple and is cooler than ever.

We love how Tommy Hilfiger borrowed from the boys with a gangster throwback of the glen plaid fabric, which was styled with a fedora hat.  Stella McCartney’s plaid were pretty in pink, while Moschino paid homage to the British punk era.  Milly tailored the plaid pant in dark, cool hues, which was style with cinched leather jacket and a long swing coat.  3.1 Phillip Lim made the trend ultra cool by mixing textiles with a faded plaid and leather sleeved top.

Saint Laurent kept his grunge aesthetic chic pair pairing ripped leather skinny pants with a plaid button-up shirt and a blazer, while kilts at Versace were mixed with shiny patent leather.
