Over the weekend, celebrities and fashion insiders got a sneak peak at the new Elsa Schiaparelli Couture Salon Place Vendôme in Paris.  Sharon Stone, Haider Ackermann, Jacques Grange and Victoire de Castellane were guests of Farida Khelfa, spokeswoman for the Schiaparelli brand on Sunday night at the surrealist inspired salon.  The name Schiaparelli has floated around for decades, with many designers including Miuccia Prada drawing inspiration from Elsa’s iconic and revolutionary designs.  Of course it helps that the Met exhibit Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations has been so widely received, reviving the brand even more.

The first Schiaparelli prêt-à-couture collection will show in January 2013 although there is no designer hired to helm the brand.  Entrepreneur Diego Della Valle purchased rights to the Schiaparelli label in 2006 with plans of restoring the name and its storied past.  The new Schiaparelli Couture salon is colorful, decorated with pale Forties Furniture, lobster shaped drawers designed by Vincent Darré and a sphinx sculpture that once adorned Schiaparelli’s original atelier.
