Parisian designer Isabel Marant started a big trend with her Willow Sneaker Wedges ($760), which sold like hot cakes and turned every stiletto wearing fashionista into a sneaker fiend this spring. Marant made it OK to skip the vertiginous Christian Louboutin and Nicholas Kirkwood pumps for a more comfortable three inch wedge sneaker that was ultra cool and hip. It’s the best of both worlds if you think about it.
You get some street cred with ultra fashionable sneakers while elevating a casual outfit to new heights with a nice wedge built into your shoe. This season, many brands, including Marc by Marc Jacobs, Chloe, DKNY, Ash and Giuseppe Zanotti have come up with their own version of the wedge sneaker, making me want to pull out my darkest Gap skinny jeans and Member’s Only letter man jacket for spring.
